Swimming With The Tulum Sea Turtles

Summer is a really wonderful time. I was blessed enough to live several months in the Yucatan region this summer season. It was definitely really a blessing to be there. I lived the majority of my time in a petite jungle town referred to as Tulum. Tulum is located inside the Riviera Maya approximately ninety miles south of Cancun and about 40 miles from Playa Del Carmen. It’s a fairly simple drive should you rent an automobile and take freeway 307 the entirety of way. You may also get on a bus for a very affordable cost. A taxi ride wouldn’t even be overly outrageous either, but as a result of riding the bus or renting an automobile you’ll unquestionably be saving funds. By far, my preferred thing about Tulum stands out as the nation. There are countless genuine people in Tulum, mainly the local Mayans and Mexicans who reside there. An additional majestic feature is the beaches. Tulum has among the most breathtaking beaches in the planet. You most likely did not know that at least one of the Corona commercials with the couple on the beach was filmed here. Yes, it really is as beautiful as it appears on TV and yes, you ought to fly down for a visit!

The initial beach I went to instantly moved to the summit of my most excellent beach experiences list. I had by no means experienced anything like it, it was so immaculate and heavenly . My contacts who are long term residents down here term it Turtle beach, however the official designation is Xcacel (esh-ca-sell). It should be merely a 10 minute ride north of Tulum on interstate 307. Not surprisingly they named it turtle beach for the reason that should you set out at the hours of darkness within the the first part of to mid summer season you will really have the chance to see actual live sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand. It’s important to remain quiet and stand or sit at least 15 feet away from the turtle during the egg laying process because you may scare the turtle if you get any closer. You’ll want to choose an evening when the moon and stars are shining bright because this process only happens at night and the use of any lights or flashlights to observe the turtle will scare the creature.

If the circumstances are right, you may get to witness one of the more beautiful scenes you’ll ever see in nature. One evening, I was lucky enough to see a live turtle laying eggs during my stay down here. It was indescribable! All I can say is that this is something everyone should see at some point in their lives.

Going to Turtle Beach in the daylight hours is also quite an experience. The thing that really stood out to me was the small number of people there. It’s almost like having you own private beach for the afternoon. I’ve never seen more than 50-100 people there and that is a busy day and still doesn’t seem like much over the 3/4 mile stretch of beach. It is so serene because of this. The water is so amazing too. The waves barely even exist and the water is 75-80 degrees always. It makes it easy to play with the kids in the water without getting cold or getting smacked by waves. The small waves are caused by the Coral Reef which is only about 50 feet out from the shore and extending miles out into the ocean. As a result of the Coral Reef, this is an ideal area for Scuba and Snorkeling. There are even countless options for professional diving tours in the Tulum area. I plan on trying scuba diving next time I’m able to visit.

I certainly hope that time flies between then and now. The entire Yucantan is absolutely amazing. If you end up in Playa Del Carmen or Cancun, you’ll have a great time too. You can live in luxury at hundreds and hundreds of Yucatan peninsula hotels including Playa del Carmen hotels. However with Tulum beach hotels, you’ll be able to avoid the crowds and get some small town service and small town prices. Personally I recommend Tulum, Mexico if you want a more genuine Mayan/Mexican experience. With plenty of amazing lodging accommodations, restaurants, resorts, and beach clubs, and more open spaces, you may find that Tulum is just the vacation you’re looking for.
